Metal detection distance: about 24mm for Φ15 steel pipe.
Voltage detection distance: about 30mm for AC100V (or more) electric wire.

Keep detector far from test object, move the knob till it sounds and shines. Move back a little to stop sound and shine.
Keep detector METAL or VOLTAGE side close to test object, move parallel to object surface. When detect metal or voltage wire, detector will shine and sound.

Do not forget to power off after use.
Take out battery when no need to test for long time.
Detector cannot test AC electric wire inside metal pipe or wall.
